Custom Inflatable Props: The Ultimate Buyer’s Guide
Custom inflatable props are one of the easiest ways to completely transform a space.
Whether you are planning a festival, brand activation, parade, corporate event, immersive installation, nightclub production or something wonderfully strange that does not quite fit into a category, a bespoke inflatable gives you the freedom to create something people genuinely remember.
At Trippy Creations, we create made-to-order inflatable props from customer ideas, artwork, branding, moodboards and sketches. From giant creatures and oversized objects to illuminated event props and branded designs, every project begins with an idea and develops into something made specifically for your space or event.
If you are considering ordering a custom inflatable but are not sure how the process works, this guide answers the questions we are asked most often.
What Is a Custom Inflatable Prop?
A custom inflatable prop is an inflatable structure created specifically around your own design rather than purchased as an off-the-shelf decoration.
That design might begin as a rough sketch, moodboard, photograph, JPEG or PNG, company logo, vector artwork, an existing product you would like recreated on a larger scale, or simply an idea explained to us in an email.
You do not need to arrive with a finished technical drawing. Part of the process is taking your idea and working out how it can translate into an inflatable form while still achieving the overall look you have in mind.
This makes custom inflatables particularly useful for event companies, experiential agencies, festivals, venues and brands that need something more specific than standard event décor.
Can You Make an Inflatable From My Idea?
In most cases, yes. Some of our favourite projects start with little more than a customer saying, “I have a strange idea. Is this possible?”
You can send us reference images, sketches, screenshots, existing artwork or a written description of what you are trying to create. If your inflatable includes a logo or other printed branding, vector artwork is preferable where possible because it gives us a clean, high-quality starting point.
If you only have a JPEG or another image format, send it over anyway and we can advise you on what is usable.
There will occasionally be designs that need adapting for practical reasons. Inflatable structures behave differently from solid sculptures, so extremely thin sections, unusual proportions or complicated unsupported shapes may need to be adjusted. The aim is always to preserve the character of the original idea while making sure the finished piece works properly as an inflatable.
How Does the Custom Design Process Work?
Every custom project starts with your idea. Once we understand the approximate design, size, quantity, installation method and intended use, we can discuss pricing and feasibility.
For bespoke projects requiring a new design file, there is an £85 design stage. This allows the design to be properly developed before manufacture begins.
The £85 is then deducted from your final order value if you proceed with production, so it is not an additional charge on top of the finished inflatable.
You will have an opportunity to review the design before production begins and request appropriate revisions. We do not simply take an idea and manufacture it without approval.
That design stage is important because it gives both sides the chance to confirm the proportions, colours, details and overall appearance before the physical product is made.
How Much Does a Custom Inflatable Cost?
There is no single price for a bespoke inflatable because every project is different. The main factors include:
- Overall size
- Complexity of the shape
- Colours, printed artwork or branding
- LED lighting
- Quantity
- Material and fire-retardant requirements
- Installation method
- Additional structural or design details
Ordering several pieces together can also make a difference, and bundle pricing may be available on suitable multi-piece orders.
When requesting a quote, the most useful information is your approximate size, quantity, event date, delivery location, expected installation method and any reference images you already have.
We will be expanding this topic in a separate custom inflatable pricing guide, including the decisions that make the biggest difference to the finished quote.
What Sizes Can Custom Inflatables Be Made In?
We can work across a wide range of sizes, starting from approximately 1 metre upwards, depending on the design.
There is no universal “best” size. A 2m prop might look enormous in a small venue but disappear visually inside a huge festival stage or exhibition hall.
When choosing a size, think about viewing distance, ceiling height, available floor space, whether people need to move underneath or around it, how it will photograph, indoor versus outdoor use and whether the inflatable is a main focal point or supporting decoration.
If you are not sure what size you need, tell us where the inflatable is going and what you want it to achieve visually. We can help you work backwards from the space rather than expecting you to guess.
Can Custom Inflatables Include Logos and Branding?
Yes. Custom inflatables are particularly effective for branded environments because the object itself becomes part of the visual identity of the event.
Logos, brand colours, wording and other artwork can potentially be incorporated into the design for brand activations, product launches, experiential campaigns, corporate events, exhibitions, hospitality installations, festivals, promotional displays and photo opportunities.
For printed logos, vector files are generally the most useful format. The earlier we receive your branding assets, the easier it is to incorporate them properly into the design.
Can You Copy Any Character or Design?
Not everything can legally be reproduced. We will not manufacture unauthorised copies of protected characters or artwork such as Disney characters or other copyrighted and trademarked designs where permission has not been provided.
If you want something inspired by a general theme, however, we can often develop an original design that captures the atmosphere you are looking for without directly copying protected artwork. Original ideas are usually much more interesting anyway.
How Long Does a Custom Inflatable Take to Make?
Our custom production is deliberately designed to be relatively fast. A custom project can often be produced within approximately 3–10 days once the design is approved, although larger or more complicated orders can require additional time.
Shipping happens after production, so this must also be included when planning around a fixed event date.
If your inflatable is required for an event, please give us the actual event date rather than simply asking how quickly it can arrive. That lets us work backwards and determine whether the schedule is realistic.
Last-minute projects are sometimes possible, but earlier is always better.
Do the Inflatables Need a Blower?
Most of our larger inflatable props use a continuous-air blower system. This means the fan remains running while the inflatable is in use.
Continuous-air inflatables are popular for events because they can create much larger shapes without the extremely heavy construction required by sealed inflatables. The correct power setup depends on where and how the inflatable is being used, so access to electricity should be considered as part of the event setup.
Can Custom Inflatables Have LED Lights?
Yes. LED lighting can be incorporated into suitable inflatable designs to create illuminated props that become especially effective in darker environments.
This works brilliantly for nightclubs, festivals, music events, Halloween installations, immersive venues, brand activations, evening events and stage productions.
If lighting is important to your concept, mention it during the initial enquiry so it can be considered as part of the design rather than added as an afterthought.

Bold shapes, colour and internal lighting can make a prop work especially well in immersive event spaces.
Can Custom Inflatables Be Used Outdoors?
Many inflatables can be used outdoors, but outdoor installations require more planning than indoor ones.
Wind and weather conditions must always be taken seriously with large lightweight structures. Outdoor use may require suitable anchoring, additional installation planning and access to weather-protected electrical equipment.
An inflatable should not simply be placed outside regardless of conditions. We will cover weather, power, anchoring and practical planning in more detail in a dedicated outdoor custom inflatable guide.
Can Custom Inflatables Be Used in Parades?
Yes, depending on the size and design. Parade installations require a different approach from static event décor because the inflatable needs to move safely with the people carrying or controlling it.
As a general guide, harness-style installations may be suitable up to approximately 3m, while pole-supported installations may be suitable up to approximately 2.5m. The actual suitability depends on the shape and proportions of the inflatable, so these should not be treated as automatic limits for every design.
Portable parade setups also require an appropriate power source. Where a 12V-powered solution is being used, the customer is responsible for providing the required 12V battery unless otherwise agreed.
Are Custom Inflatables Fire Retardant?
Fire-retardant options are available for suitable projects. Whether this is required depends on the venue, event and intended installation.
Some venues have very specific fire-safety requirements, particularly exhibition centres, indoor arenas, commercial venues and public events. If your venue requires fire-retardant materials or supporting documentation, please tell us before ordering so this can be factored into the design and quotation.
Do You Install the Inflatables?
Trippy Creations is primarily a made-to-order creative production business rather than an installation company.
We design and manufacture the props for you, and your event, production or installation team handles the physical installation on site.
This makes us particularly suited to working alongside event production companies, festival décor teams, scenic designers, installation teams, experiential agencies, AV companies and venue production departments.
We are not looking to replace your existing suppliers or installation team. Instead, we can become another creative specialist on your supplier list when you need something unusual made.
Are Custom Inflatable Props Reusable?
When looked after correctly, inflatable props can be used repeatedly rather than being treated as single-use event decorations.
That makes them particularly valuable for brands or event companies running multiple activations, touring productions or recurring events. After use, they can be deflated and stored far more efficiently than many equivalent solid props.
Correct storage is important. Make sure inflatables are completely dry and clean before packing them away, and store them somewhere suitable between events.
Can I Order Several Custom Inflatables Together?
Absolutely. Some projects work far better as collections rather than individual props.
That might mean a collection of underwater creatures, several oversized branded objects, matching stage decorations, a group of illuminated props or multiple versions of the same design distributed throughout a venue.
Bundle discounts may be available depending on quantity and design. If you already know you need several pieces, tell us from the beginning rather than requesting them individually. It gives us a much better opportunity to build the collection as one cohesive project.
Do You Ship Custom Inflatables Internationally?
Yes. We work with customers in the UK and internationally.
Our inflatable designs are made to order and can be shipped directly to the customer once production is complete. We regularly work with international projects, so being outside the UK does not prevent you from ordering.
Shipping arrangements and any agreed customs or import handling will be confirmed as part of the order so you know how the delivery is being handled before production begins.
What Information Should I Send When Requesting a Quote?
You do not need a perfect technical brief. A useful starting enquiry includes:
- What you want us to make
- Approximate size and quantity
- Your event date and delivery country
- Indoor or outdoor use
- Whether LED lighting is required
- Any branding or printed artwork
- How you expect the inflatable to be installed
- Any fire-retardant requirements
- Reference images, sketches or moodboards
If you do not know the answer to everything, that is fine. We can help you work through it.
Why Choose an Artist-Led Inflatable Supplier?
There is a difference between ordering something from a catalogue and developing something specifically for an idea.
Trippy Creations began as an artist-led business, and that creative approach still sits behind what we make. Our work is produced through real artists, designers and specialist partner workshops rather than built around mass-produced event décor.
That means we particularly enjoy projects that are big, strange, colourful, playful and unexpected — the sort of thing that makes someone stop walking, pull out their phone and ask: “Where did they get that?”
Great event décor should not simply fill empty space. It should become part of the memory of the event.
Ready to Create Something?
If you already have an idea for a custom inflatable, send it over. It does not have to be polished. A sketch, screenshot, logo, moodboard or slightly chaotic explanation is enough to start a conversation.
Tell us the approximate size, event date and what you want the inflatable to do, and we can take it from there.
Custom designs. Made to order. Created for events that do not want to look like everybody else.
